The court’s ruling upended the case against Weinstein, whose downfall stood as a symbol of the success of the #MeToo movement. The appeals court ordered that Weinstein receive a new trial. Douglas H. Wigdor, an attorney who has represented eight of Weinstein’s accusers, including two of the “prior bad acts” witnesses at his New York criminal trial, criticized the ruling. Paris CNN —A French senator has been placed under formal investigation over suspicions that he drugged a member of parliament with the intention to sexually abuse her, the senator’s lawyer and the Paris prosecutor’s office said. In a separate statement, Guerriau denied the charges. It was not clear why Josso was in the senator’s flat at the time of the alleged incident. The Paris prosecutor confirmed late on Friday that an investigation has been opened, adding that Guerriau had been placed under judicial control and is not allowed to contact Josso or witnesses. A spokesman for the senator’s conservative Horizons party, which is also part of French President Emmanuel Macron’s ruling coalition, told Radio France Info on Saturday that Guerriau had been suspended with immediate effect.

Mr. Raymond’s crimes date as far back as 2006 and as recently as 2020 and took place in multiple countries where he had been working for the U.S. government, prosecutors said. LOS ANGELES (AP) — “That ’70s Show” star Danny Masterson could get as much as 30 years to life in prison at his sentencing Thursday for the rapes of two women two decades ago. A jury of seven women and five men found Masterson guilty of two counts on May 31 after seven days of deliberations. The women blamed the church for their hesitancy in going to police about Masterson. Masterson was not charged with any counts of drugging, and there was no toxicology evidence to back up the assertion. Masterson starred with Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Topher Grace in “That ’70s Show” from 1998 until 2006.
